Order DiaLearnDiaLearn Marketplace
The DiaLearn Marketplace was developed specifically for the DiaLearn community. As a central hub, it makes it easy to present, share, and reuse learning content—quickly and effortlessly.
Central visibility
All participating institutions can present their courses and materials in a consistent manner and make them visible to others.
Facility-specific use
Client administrators can independently decide which of their own courses or materials they want to make visible to other institutions on the marketplace and make available for exchange. This allows individual institutions to retain full control over their content and its use within the network.
If necessary, you can contact the client administrators at the organization providing the service directly to clarify details regarding usage, licenses, or customizations.
Avoidance of duplication of work
Thanks to the marketplace, content does not have to be created from scratch multiple times. Courses and materials that have already been developed can be adopted and adapted by other institutions. This saves time, costs and human resources, while institutions can learn from each other and develop their learning opportunities together.
Client security
All entries are visible across all clients. Only client administrators have access to the detailed information. Thanks to the client separation, content can be transferred directly to the respective client - uncontrolled distribution is impossible.

FAQ – Answers to Questions About DIALEARN
What is a DiaLearn client?
A client is an independent organizational unit within the shared Moodle Workplace platform “DiaLearn.” It can be, for example, a company, an educational institution, or a department that uses the platform alongside other clients but operates within a completely isolated environment.
Thanks to Moodle Workplace multi-tenant capability, each tenant Moodle Workplace its own “digital space” on the platform, where it manages its own user structure, courses, learning paths, content, and workflows independently of other tenants. Within this secure area, the organization can thus build and manage its own learning environment. This includes, among other things, individual course areas, custom learning programs with dynamic workflows, automatic enrollment rules, as well as domain-specific certifications and reporting functions. The learning environment can be configured to optimally support the internal structures and processes of the respective client.
Can anyone become a DiaLearn client?
No, DiaLearn is a Moodle Workplace platform operated by eLeDia – elearning im Dialog on behalf of the Evangelisches Werk für Diakonie und Entwicklung e.V. (EWDE). The platform is available exclusively to EWDE member institutions—in particular organizations of Diakonie Deutschland, Brot für die Welt, and Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, as well as affiliated agencies, associated sponsors, and partner organizations within the EWDE.
Use by external institutions or individuals outside the EWDE is not intended.
What roles and permissions are available in the DiaLearn client?
User management is handled entirely within the client’s own environment. The client administrator plays a central role in this process. This person is designated by the applicant and is set up by eLeDia as the primary administrative contact during the client setup process. With the assigned access credentials, the client administrator gains access to manage their own client area.
Client administrators have extensive permissions within their respective client environments—for example, to manage users, set up course areas, assign roles, or maintain content. They do not have access to the higher-level system administration or to other client areas. Overall technical administration of the platform is the sole responsibility of eLeDia.
Within the client, the client administrator can assign additional roles—each corresponding to the functions, tasks, and responsibilities within the organization.
Who configures the system and handles updates?
eLeDia ensures that all technical components are compatible with one another and that the platform can be operated reliably and efficiently—both during initial setup and in ongoing operations.
Updates to the DiaLearn platform are typically announced on the community forum at least one week before the scheduled date. In these announcements, eLeDia provides information about the timing of the update, the scope of the changes, and any short-term restrictions that may occur during the update.
During an upgrade, the entire platform is uniformly migrated to a new version—including all client areas. This gives you access to new features; the design may also change slightly. Your customizations (e.g., colors, terminology, or home pages) are generally preserved, but may need to be updated technically.
These so-called client-specific fine-tuning adjustments fall under the responsibility of the respective client administrators. While eLeDia handles the technical implementation, system maintenance, and stability, it is the responsibility of each client to review the content, functions, and layout within their own area after an upgrade and—if necessary—make the appropriate adjustments. This ensures that your learning environment continues to function as desired even after a system change.
Can I use DiaLearn to host online meetings, webinars, and live training sessions?
Yes, BigBlueButton (BBB) is a fully integrated feature on the DiaLearn platform that allows online meetings, webinars, and live training sessions to take place directly within the course room. It is accessed via a dedicated BBB activity within a course. Participants who do not have their own Moodle account can access these events via a guest link. DiaLearn deliberately does not offer external access via the so-called Greenlight user management system. BigBlueButton offers captions, screen reader support, and full keyboard accessibility so that all participants can actively participate on an equal footing.
Can we install a third-party plugin in our DiaLearn account?
Under certain conditions, additional plugins can be added to the DiaLearn platform. Requests for new plugins are systematically reviewed. Suggestions can be submitted, for example, during regular discussion forums—such as the Future Workshop. As a general rule, a plugin will be integrated only if it is of interest to multiple clients. If there is sufficient support, its implementation can be considered.
For custom requirements, it is also possible to commission eLeDia to develop a plugin as a paid, bespoke solution. The resulting development costs will be billed to the requesting organization. The organization may coordinate with other interested clients to arrange for shared costs internally; however, eLeDia will not issue separate invoices to multiple parties.
As a general rule, integration is only possible if the desired plugin is technically compatible with the currently used Moodle Workplace .
What services does eLeDia offer for DiaLearn?
eLeDia offers DiaLearn clients a range of services that covers all their needs related to the use of Moodle Workplace digital learning solutions. The portfolio addresses the need for knowledge and skills development (training), the need for individual conceptual or technical consulting (consulting), as well as short-term assistance with day-to-day operations (support). Depending on the specific need, services can be booked individually or utilized as part of the free monthly consultation hour.
What are the free monthly consultation hours and future workshops?
Monthly office hours
This consultation hour serves as a regular, low-threshold service for general questions and initial support requests. It falls under the category of support and consulting—depending on the topic, we address spontaneous user questions or provide initial guidance on more complex issues.
Important: During the consultation hours, only general questions that have no specific connection to individual clients or their systems and data may be discussed. Topics that are sensitive under data protection law or client-specific are excluded from this and will not be addressed. Individual support or consulting requests regarding specific client scenarios will be coordinated separately and billed accordingly as consulting or support services.
Future Workshops
Twice a year, all clients have the opportunity to participate in the further development of the DiaLearn platform through a future-planning workshop. The goal is to identify shared requirements, discuss new features or plugins, and prioritize meaningful enhancements.
The workshops serve as a structured forum for discussion, where needs are identified, evaluated, and put to a vote. Decisions and votes on plugin requests are made jointly and by majority vote within this framework. On this basis, technical adjustments or enhancements that are in the interest of multiple clients can be planned. Suggestions for the use of third-party plugins can also be submitted and evaluated together—provided they are compatible with the current Moodle Workplace version.
The results of the workshops are directly incorporated into the platform’s ongoing development. This ensures that DiaLearn continues to evolve in a way that meets the needs of the organizations using it—transparently, in a needs-based manner, and in a way that allows for planning.
What is included in the online orientation?
The online training session on key client administration functions (max. 3 hours) takes place in the Moodle Workplace demo system and uses concrete examples to demonstrate how these key functions can be used efficiently.
