The company itself? From the very beginning, eLeDia was a remote company - which was still quite unusual at the time. It wasn't until 2010 that eLeDia moved to the office in Berlin, but remained true to its flexible working culture: to this day, there are on-site, hybrid and remote models for our employees.
The first employees joined eLeDia shortly after it was founded. Some of them are still working for eLeDia today. In 2024, 50 people work at eLeDia every day.
In 2019, the majority shareholding in eLeDia was acquired by dbv network GmbH. eLeDia GmbH is now a wholly owned subsidiary of dbv network GmbH.
eLeDia GmbH was founded in November 2007 by André Krüger and Ralf Hilgenstock. But long before that, the founders were already involved in the Moodle world from different perspectives: André, with a background in IT and IT consulting, wanted to reorient himself professionally and delve deeper into the topic of eLearning. Moodle, at the time one of the first open source learning platforms (founded in 2002!), immediately captivated him. Ralf, on the other hand, came from an educational and organizational consulting background. His goal was to implement training courses online - with an independent platform. Moodle was perfect for this. Together with André, he immediately set about making the Moodle interface available in German.
At Christmas 2003, Ralf and André completed their first joint project - the completion of the first German Moodle translation.
The following year, Ralf decided to officially become a Moodle Partner with his company. This model was just emerging and he and his Dialoge consultancy were among the first half dozen Moodle Partners worldwide. Moodle Partners maintain close contact with the developers of the software and finance its further development.
