Promoting the digital skills of learners

They learn to promote learners' information and media skills. This includes helping them to find and critically evaluate online materials, promote digital communication and collaboration and use the internet safely and responsibly.

The Moodle Educator qualification is based on the Digital Competence Framework for Educators(DigCompEdu).

DigCompEdu is a European competence framework that describes the digital skills trainers and teachers need to design learning processes in a contemporary way. It comprises six areas of competence - from professional digital communication and didactic design to the assessment of digital learning processes and the promotion of learners' digital skills. The aim is to support teachers in using digital technologies in a reflective, creative and learning-effective way, thus enabling sustainable education.

It shows six main color-coded areas divided into 22 specific competences: 1. professional engagement, 2. digital resources, 3. teaching and learning, 4. evaluation, 5. learner-centeredness and 6. promoting learners' digital competence. The graphic also visualizes the six-level scale of mastery from A1 (beginner) to C2 (pioneer).

Open program

We offer the Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) as an open certification programme for individuals or, for groups of 4 or more participants, as an in-house programme in your organization.

The program consists of a total of 6 modules. You can work through the modules on your own. You have 1 year to complete the program.

The Moodle Educator Qualification is aimed at teachers, instructional designers or eLearning experts who have been actively using Moodle for at least 1 year.

Each module consists of a course with fundamental aspects for successful digital teaching. The modules are designed to be cross-sectoral.

How does the evaluation of the modules work?

In each of the 6 modules, there are examination tasks that you must complete after working through the content in order to complete a module. These include the self-assessment tests, a graded test and a graded practical task.

Tests for self-checking

Competency-based quizzes test your theoretical understanding of the concepts and the associated Moodle tools. You must pass the tests with at least 80%, but you have as many attempts as you like.

Evaluated test

In an online test, you will work on scenarios that require you to apply what you have learned to real-life situations. You will read case studies and solve them. The pass mark is 80%. You can repeat the text a maximum of two times.

Exchange with others

In a forum you have the opportunity to exchange ideas with others and share your ideas and questions. You will also receive feedback from your trainer here.

Assessed practical task

In one practical assignment per module, you will put what you have learned into practice in a Moodle course or scenario and reflect on your implementation. You will then receive feedback. You must achieve at least level B2 according to the assessment scheme in order to pass the module.

FAQ

How are MEQ assignments assessed?

The written tasks (practical tasks) are assessed using an assessment rubric based on the DigCompEdu grid and the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): A1 (Beginner), A2 (Explorer), B1 (User), B2 (Expert), C1 (Leader), C2 (Pioneer).

The Moodle Educator Certification (MEC) has been renamed to Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) to create a more comprehensible qualification system. This change is intended to avoid confusion, particularly in distinguishing between individual qualifications (for people) and the services offered by Moodle Certified Partners. The name will change, but the value, structure and content of the program will remain the same.

No, the MEC certificate is the same as the MEQ certificate, so you can continue to use the MEC certificate. However, if you would like to request an MEQ certificate, you can contact us at qualifications@moodle.com.

While you are free to use MEQ to further your career, you do not have the right to use the Moodle branding as this constitutes trademark infringement.
