BigBlueButton for Free: Changes Effective August 31, 2026
The limits of the free plan for BigBlueButton hosting through Blindsite Networks will change as of August 31, 2026. Anyone currently using BigBlueButton for free should therefore familiarize themselves with the new terms and conditions in a timely manner.
Using BigBlueButton for Free: What's Changing
For most customers, the current free plan currently includes:
- 5 simultaneous meetings
- up to 60 minutes per session
- Records for 7 days
Starting August 31, 2026, the features included in the free version will be significantly reduced. The new free plan will then include:
- 1 concurrent meeting
- 5 participants
- A maximum of 30 minutes per meeting
- No records
BigBlueButton Hosting Tailored to Your Needs
BigBlueButton was developed specifically for online learning and digital instruction and integrates seamlessly with learning platforms such as Moodle. Depending on the use case, it may be helpful to assess requirements regarding session duration, number of participants, and recordings early on.
