The Moodle Educator Qualification (MEQ) certification program is Moodle's official qualification program for trainers, teachers and eLearning designers. It is aimed at people who have at least 1 year of experience in designing and implementing digital teaching/learning concepts and would like to document this competence with a certificate.
The Moodle Educator Qualification builds on the DigCompEdu.
Teachers design learning processes, guide learners in digital spaces, promote self-direction, motivation and skills acquisition in the digital environment. A structured framework for the professionalization of digital teaching and training is the European competence model DigCompEdu ("Digital Competence Framework for Educators"), which defines six areas of competence - from professional engagement to the promotion of learners' digital skills. The MEQ program builds directly on this and tests the qualification in six modules.
The MEQ consists of six modules based on the DigCompEdu model:
- Professional commitment: Reflecting on your (digital) role.
- Digital resources: Selecting and creating suitable digital content and considering the legal framework.
- Teaching and learning: Designing interactions, supporting collaborative forms of learning and empowering learners to take control.
- Learner orientation: Designing inclusive and adaptive learning paths and taking individual needs into account.
- Evaluation: Recording learning progress, giving feedback and analyzing learning processes.
- Promoting learners' digital skills: Develop media and information literacy, digital communication and safe use.
All in all, you will receive a compact, yet in-depth training program that will help you to use Moodle not only technically, but also didactically and methodically effectively.

You can complete the Moodle Educator Qualification on your own
- The modules can be completed independently. You have up to one year to complete the program.
- There are three elements in each module: quizzes for self-assessment, a graded online test and a practical task in the Moodle context for which you will receive feedback.
- There is introductory learning content for each module. You can also ask questions in the course forum.
- Upon successful completion, you will receive an official certificate from Moodle HQ that proves your digital teaching and learning competence.
Who should take part in the Moodle Educator Qualification?
The program is aimed at teachers, instructional designers, trainers and eLearning experts who have been working with Moodle for at least one year. It is a qualification program, not a beginner's training in Moodle. Organizations can also book the MEQ as an in-house offer (from four people). In this way, teams benefit together from a clearly structured training format.
- Strengthen your digital teaching skills: you not only expand your Moodle knowledge, but also gain didactic and methodological confidence.
- Career advancement: The official MEQ certificate documents your expertise and can be a valuable asset when applying for jobs or in personnel development.
- Increasing the efficiency of eLearning projects: If you use Moodle in a didactically clever way, you will be better able to motivate learners and improve learning outcomes.
- Networking with experts: In the forum, you can exchange ideas with other participants, reflect on your practice and receive valuable feedback.
