Learntec was held in Karlsruhe from May 6-8. eLeDia was represented with a stand, as it is every year. It was not the first Learntec for me, but the first in my position as Managing Director of eLeDia and I was accordingly excited about the trade fair.
We met many customers and talked about current and future projects. We were able to exchange ideas with cooperation partners, and we were also on stage with Ubicast and SmartEduAI. And the trade fair is always a good opportunity to get an overview of the market and find out what solutions and ideas other providers have. What were our most important findings?
Many people know Moodle.
Many people come by the stand and tell us that they know or use Moodle. That's why our poster with the Trainer Tools or our Moodle stickers were in demand again this year. When we then showed what the newer Moodle versions can do, what is possible in terms of Moodle design and what extension options are available, e.g. via plugins, many were amazed.
Moodle is suitable for corporate learning.
Many people are amazed when they hear this: Moodle is not only used in schools and universities. This is because eLeDia has many customers in the corporate learning sector and customers who use Moodle for a wide range of educational products. It has been our main business since the company was founded 17 years ago. We also first got into the topic of "Moodle in schools" with Corona.
Moodle's strengths as an open source solution can be fully exploited, especially in the corporate sector. In addition to good documentation(Moodle Developers documentation), the extensive core APIs are a particularly important argument. This makes it easy to implement interfaces to other systems (e.g. HR applications).
eCommerce solutions are in demand.
Our new store solution eLeDia.shop was the subject of many discussions. Many customers also want to sell their digital education products digitally and are looking into eCommerce solutions. With Paypal enrollment, Moodle already offers the option of linking enrollment in a course to prior payment. However, Moodle is no longer sufficient when it comes to invoicing. Our Moodle connector for odoo offers the option of using a sophisticated eCommerce solution for the sale of course offerings.
AI continues to be the hot topic
The integration of AI into the Learning Management System Moodle was certainly one of the top topics at our stand. With its AI subsystem, Moodle already offers basic functions for learners and teachers and enables the integration of various AI providers. Ollama is also integrated into Moodle 5.0 as an open source solution. The "Explain" and "Summarize" features facilitate the learning of text-based content. The integration into the text editor is particularly helpful for teachers who want to use generative AI to create learning content. With our product eledia.ai we offer even more possibilities, e.g. an Ollama server hosted by us. Data protection compliant, of course. We will also be able to offer a GDPR-compliant chat bot and AI_Tutor in the near future and will inform you accordingly.
We took many new contacts and impressions with us to Berlin and are already planning for next year. We have already booked our stand in Hall 1.
P.S.: Learntec 2026 will take place from May 5 - 07, 2026.
