Editing texts together online:
Collabora Office and efficient solutions for Moodle

In many learning scenarios, it is essential that participants work together on documents. Moodle offers various functions such as forums, wikis and blogs for this purpose. But simultaneous editing of documents in real time goes one step further: all participants can work on a text at the same time - without complicated coordination or sending multiple file versions.

Many people are familiar with this function from Microsoft Office or Google Docs. However, these tools are often subject to a fee and require fixed user access - a challenge for training providers with changing groups of participants.

We recently implemented various scenarios in Moodle for a nationwide education provider. Collabora Office, an online version of LibreOffice, was used. With this solution, participants can edit texts, create presentations or make calculations online directly in the Moodle course - without any additional software or external services.

It is very easy to use: the document is opened directly in the course and can be edited immediately. Editing texts together online has never been so uncomplicated.
